The hall

One room, one booking a day

Sixty seated, a hundred and twenty standing, under the original roof structure with nothing hung from it.

The hall is the middle third of the ground floor. On an ordinary day it holds sofas and people reading, and when it is booked the sofas go to the courtyard store and the room seats sixty at round tables.

It hosts weddings, the two conferences a year that the university sends over and, in December, a concert that the hotel doesn't organise and has never managed to stop.

Four conditions

Said on the telephone anyway

  • One booking a day, because the kitchen that feeds the hall also feeds the table.
  • Nothing is fixed to the roof structure, lights included, without exception.
  • Music stops at eleven because there are rooms directly above.
  • The carding room is not available for private hire and is not part of any booking.
